This beta release is the biggest structural change Booknetic has shipped so far because the single plugin is being split into Booknetic Free and Booknetic Pro.

That split is what enables the upcoming WordPress.org distribution, but it also means this update does more than replace a few files. It runs database migrations, installs the new plugin pair, and updates the add-ons that would otherwise break under the new architecture.

Before you start, make sure you have already joined the beta program. In your Booknetic dashboard, click the Support icon in the top-right corner, click Join beta, and confirm. How to update Booknetic v5.6.0 beta

Step 1: Take a full database backup

This step is mandatory.

Take a fresh full database backup before you run the update. The migration changes the schema and rewires plugin files. If something goes wrong during or after the process, your backup is the safest rollback path.

If you normally test updates on a staging copy first, this is the right release to do it with.

Step 2: Trigger the update in WordPress

Go to WP Admin → Plugins.

It takes a snapshot of your currently active add-ons.
It temporarily deactivates the 15 critical add-ons whose old code is not compatible with the new architecture.
It downloads, installs, and activates Booknetic Free v1.0.0 and Booknetic Pro v5.6.0.
It updates those 15 critical add-ons to compatible versions and reactivates them one by one.
It clears the snapshot after everything is back online.

You do not need to manually intervene during this phase. The main thing to do is wait for it to finish and avoid interrupting the process.

Step 4: Update the remaining add-ons

This step is not optional in practice. The migration only auto-updates the 15 critical add-ons that would otherwise fatal under the new structure. Any other add-on you have installed may continue running on its old version, but that does not mean it is fully safe to leave it there.

To update the rest:

Open WP Admin → Plugins.
Click Check for update next to Booknetic.
Review the update notices shown for your add-ons.
Update each remaining add-on one by one.

We strongly recommend updating all installed add-ons before you continue using the booking system on a production site. Some features may behave incorrectly or fail once they start interacting with the new core if they stay on older builds.

Step 5: Verify the final installed versions

When the full flow is complete, these are the versions you should see installed and active:

Booknetic Free → v1.0.0
Booknetic Pro → v5.6.0
Booknetic SaaS → v3.11.0 (only if you use the SaaS module)

If your versions do not match that list, do not keep testing bookings blindly. Recheck the add-on updates first, then contact support if anything still looks wrong.
